These Terms & Conditions govern registration for and participation in classes, multi-week courses, memberships, and studio pickups at North York Pottery. By booking a class, purchasing a membership, or using our facilities, you agree to the terms below.
1. Bookings & Registration
All classes, workshops, and course series must be booked and paid for in advance through our online booking system, unless otherwise arranged with the Studio.
Registration is confirmed only once payment (in full, or an agreed deposit) has been received.
Class sizes are limited. Booking a spot does not guarantee availability of a specific wheel, tool, or work station beyond what is listed in the class, workshop or course description.
Participants must be 16 years or older to register independently. Minors may attend only with a signed waiver from a parent or legal guardian, and where required, direct adult supervision.
2. Payment
Payment is due at the time of booking unless the Studio has agreed to an alternate arrangement in writing.
Prices are listed in CAD and are subject to applicable taxes.
Multi-week courses must be paid for in full at the time of registration, covering all sessions in the series.
Prices are subject to change; confirmed bookings will be honored at the price paid at the time of registration.
3. Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellations made at least 7 days before the scheduled class are eligible for a full refund or credit toward a future class, at the participant's choice.
Cancellations made within 7 days of the scheduled class are not eligible for a refund.
Rescheduling within 7 days of the scheduled class will incur a $20 rescheduling fee.
No-shows are not eligible for a refund or credit.
The Studio reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class due to insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, or circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, participants will be offered a full refund or a spot in an equivalent future class.
4. Multi-Week Courses
Registration for a multi-week series is a commitment to the full series, not to individual sessions.
Missed sessions: If you miss a session in a series, we are not able to offer a refund for that session, but where feasible we will offer a make-up opportunity in another current series at the Studio's discretion, subject to space availability.
Withdrawing mid-series: Refunds for withdrawing partway through a series are not provided, except in the case of documented medical necessity or at the Studio's discretion.
The Studio reserves the right to cancel a series that does not meet minimum enrollment before its start date, in which case a full refund will be issued.
5. Memberships
Memberships renew automatically on a recurring monthly basis via the payment method on file, until cancelled.
Cancellation: Memberships may be cancelled at any time by notifying the Studio at least 15 dyas before the next billing date. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not provide partial-period refunds.
Freezes/pauses: Members may request to pause a membership for [reason, e.g., travel, injury] for up to 3 weeks per year by notifying the Studio in advance.
Membership benefits (e.g., studio access hours, included clay/materials, class discounts) are as described in your specific membership plan at the time of sign-up, and are non-transferable between members.
The Studio reserves the right to adjust membership pricing with at least [30] days' notice to current members before the change takes effect on their next renewal.
6. Pottery Pickup Policy
Finished, glazed, and fired pieces will be available for pickup once completed; the Studio will not notify you when your piece is ready. It is your responsibility to
Pieces must be picked up within 1 month of firing. The Studio has limited storage space and cannot hold finished work indefinitely.
Pieces not collected within this window may be considered abandoned and may be donated, repurposed, or disposed of at the Studio's discretion, without further notice or compensation.
The Studio takes reasonable care of work in progress and finished pieces, but is not responsible for loss, breakage, or damage to greenware, bisqueware, or finished pottery while in the Studio's possession, including during the firing process, which carries inherent risk of breakage or glaze imperfection.
7. Studio Conduct & Use of Equipment
Participants must follow instructor guidance regarding safe and proper use of wheels, kilns, tools, and materials at all times.
Only instructors and authorized staff may operate the kiln.
The Studio reserves the right to refuse service or end a session, without refund, for any participant who disregards safety instructions, damages equipment, or behaves in a manner disruptive or unsafe to others.
Participants are responsible for cleaning their workstation and returning shared tools after each session.
8. Materials & Included Supplies
Additional clay, specialty glazes, or extra firings beyond what's included in standard class, course or membership pricing may incur additional charges.
Materials not used during a session do not carry over or entitle the participant to a credit.
9. Photography & Marketing
The Studio may take photos or videos during classes for use on our website, social media, and marketing materials.
If you do not wish to be photographed or featured, please notify Studio staff in writing prior to your session, and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.
10. Changes to Schedule or Instructor
The Studio reserves the right to substitute instructors or adjust class times due to unforeseen circumstances. Where a specific instructor was a condition of booking (e.g., a student specifically booked with one instructor), we will notify affected participants as early as possible and offer a full refund or reschedule option if the substitution is not acceptable to them.
11. Gift Cards & Credits
Gift cards and studio credits are non-refundable for cash and do not expire unless otherwise stated at time of purchase.
Lost or stolen gift cards/credit codes cannot be replaced without proof of purchase.
12. Limitation of Liability
Participation in all Studio classes and use of Studio facilities is also subject to our separate Liability Waiver, which all participants must sign prior to participating. In the event of any conflict between these Terms & Conditions and the Liability Waiver regarding matters of injury, risk, or liability, the Liability Waiver governs.
13. Changes to These Terms
The Studio may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your booking will apply to that booking; continued use of Studio services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
